Role Synopsis

These highly experienced oil field professionals are problem solvers on the rig site. Once called in, the fishing supervisor will generally report to the district shop in Clarksburg, WV to receive the job details and then reviews and confirms the necessary tools and equipment required to satisfy the project. Directional Driller Oil & Gas/ Drilling & Evaluation / Measurements - Tanzania
CA Oil & Gas are currently seeking a Directional Driller for our clients operations. African Nationals will be given priority for these positions when applying.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Under broad direction provides resolution to a diverse scope and range of complex problems at the well site where analysis of data requires having a broad knowledge of the product line(s)) tool(s)) and/or service.
Work is evaluated upon completion by a Field Supervisor (where appropriate), local Operations Management and the external Customer to ensure objectives have been met.
Acts as a project leader and mentors junior field engineers.
Provides direct instruction and supervision to junior Field Engineers on day-to-day well site work and activities. Provides advice and direction to external customer and third-party wellsite colleagues as appropriate.
Executes other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
University Degree in Engineering or Applied Science required. 5 + years’ experience in Directional Drilling Services
Completion of the Final Step (Step III) of the LEAD Field Engineer Program and all local training and development programs. This may be exempted dependent upon candidates work history in Directional Drilling and Field Experience.
Desired/Preferred Knowledge and Skills
Thorough knowledge of Conventional Drilling Systems Technology
Working knowledge of Rotary Steerable Technology
Working knowledge of MWD systems used in Directional Drilling Systems.
Thorough understanding of customer requirements in the oilfield environment
Proficient in the use of PC’s
Ability to use skills, knowledge and techniques in problem recognition and solution development
Thorough knowledge of Anti Collision policy and techniques for Collision Avoidance.
Good analytical skills.

Tanzania
Tanzania awarded a concession to BP and Shell to cover the onshore coastal basins and the islands of Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia. This area is known as the Rovuma Basin. Oil and Gas activities include Exploration, Production, Gas, Oil, Onshore and Offshore in the following regions Songo Songo and Mnazi Bay.
Tanzania's major environmental issues include: soil degradation; deforestation; desertification; destruction of coral reefs threatens marine habitats; recent droughts affected marginal agriculture; and, wildlife threatened by illegal hunting and trade, especially for ivory. It is susceptible to flooding on the central plateau during the rainy season; and to drought.
Shortly after achieving independence from Britain in the early 1960s, Tanganyika and Zanzibar merged to form the nation of Tanzania in 1964. One-party rule came to an end in 1995 with the first democratic elections held in the country since the 1970s. Zanzibar's semi-autonomous status and popular opposition have led to two contentious elections since 1995, which the ruling party won despite international observers' claims of voting irregularities
Economy
Tanzania is one of the poorest countries in the world. The economy depends heavily on agriculture, which accounts for more than 40% of GDP, provides 85% of exports, and employs 80% of the work force. Topography and climatic conditions, however, limit cultivated crops to only 4% of the land area. Industry traditionally featured the processing of agricultural products and light consumer goods. The World Bank, the IMF, and bilateral donors have provided funds to rehabilitate Tanzania's out-of-date economic infrastructure and to alleviate poverty. Long-term growth through 2005 featured a pickup in industrial production and a substantial increase in output of minerals led by gold. Recent banking reforms have helped increase private-sector growth and investment. Continued donor assistance and solid macroeconomic policies supported real GDP growth of nearly 7% in 2007.
